Dr. Gu received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mining Engineering from the Shandong Institute of Mining and Technology and the China Coal Research Institute. His Ph.D. degree in Mining Engineering was obtained at West Virginia University.

Dr.Gu came to Keystone Mining Services as a Ground Control Engineer in early 2005 with over 12 years of mining engineering and geotechnical experience. He has authored over twenty publications and articles relating to mine ground control in both China and the United States. Dr. Gu is a leading expert in various types of computer modeling techniques including both two and three-dimensional finite element analysis. Dr. Gu has extensive experience in the Western United States coal fields and deep cover mines in China.
